Consignment Fees.
Closet Cash will take as fees the following percentages from the proceeds of the sale of your Consignment Items:

10% of the sale price for anything over $5,000.00

(For example, on a consignment that sells for $5,500 you the consignor receive $5,000. Closet Cash receives $550 from the sale)

15% of the sale price for anything that sells from $3,000.00 – $4,999.99
25% of the sale price for anything that sells from $1,000.00 – $2,999.99
30% of the sale price for anything that sells from $195.00 – $999.99
40% of the sale price for anything that sells from $100.00 – $194.99
50% of the sale for all items $99.99 dollars and under

Consignment Fees.

If you find that someone can sell your item and/or items for more, we will give you a $100, not in site credit but in cold hard cash (in other words a check from Closet Cash to you). You will need to submit the item and quote for review. If the item or items you are consigning or are wanting to consign on our site gets a higher listing price somewhere else we will pay you. Item and/or items must be the same item (by the same designer, in the same size and same condition). You can submit items for a consignor guarantee by emailing us at help@closetcash.com please put “CONSIGNOR GUARANTEE” in the subject line and send a quote of the item you plan to sell.

Items purchased from Closet Cash may be sold back to us for 75% of the item’s purchase price within 180 days of purchase.

Items are available for the Buy Back Program?

The 75% Buy Back Program applies to all items purchased from Closet Cash with the following exceptions:

  • Items that suffered excessive wear or damage after purchase from Closet Cash
  • Items from companies or sellers other than Closet Cash
  • Shoes & Sunglasses
  • Items Originally sold for under $300

Items must pass inspection upon return, to ensure that the condition meets its original condition when purchased.

Items that have passed 180 day term can be re-consigned but Closet Cash is under no obligation to pay 75% as in the Buy Back program but we will do our best to give you the best price we can for your item and loyalty for shopping with us.

Closet Cash offers to Buy Out your item(s) and issues payment to you upfront vs. when your item(s) sells (in the case of a Consignment Item). After authenticating and appraising an item’s value, Closet Cash will typically offer a Buy Out price between 50% and 70% of the item’s resale value. All items sold to Closet Cash as a buyout are final once payment has been issued.

Yes, you can now consign in person if you live in the Los Angeles Area. Email us at consign@closetcash.com to set up your appointment and to visit us at 10000 Santa Monica Blvd. Century City CA 90067. Due to COVID-19 we are only accepting consignment by very limited appointment times to allow for social distancing requirements. Please email consign@closetcash.com to book your in person consignment. If your items qualify you can  schedule a white glove VIP pick up if you live in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Bay Area (Oakland, Peninsula, Silicon Valley), Santa Barbara, San Diego, Orange County, Malibu, Manhattan New York,  Payment is issued once the item(s) are received back at Closet Cash and authenticated.

We offer free insured domestic shipping for any items you send to Closet Cash for consignment within the continental United States. Once your quote submissions have been accepted by Closet Cash you may select either the free FedEx inbound label to ship your items to us. Print the label, along with your Ship List, for your Closet Cash shipment. Shipments sent from outside the continental U.S. such as Alaska or Hawaii must have a minimum of $1000 in quoted value to be eligible to print a free shipping label.

If you ship items to Closet Cash using your own choice of shipping method, we require that you use signature confirmation with the carrier you choose. All shipments sent by your alternative choice of shipping method are not reimbursed by Closet Cash.

Yes. We are happy to provide an online quote when selling your item with us and you can even request a free FedEx or UPS home pickup to ship us your item without leaving the house. To better process your inbound package, please use Closet Cash provided shipping label.

We are currently processing items, however due to safety we are working with a limited team. Item processing time is expected to be between 2-3 weeks.

Some items may sell within hours of being listed/ However, other items may take weeks to sell.

The majority of Closet Cash Consignment items sell within the first sixty days. If an item remains unsold, Closet Cash will list the item for sale at a reduced price. If item does not sell upon termination date of condiment agreement you can request the item back or we will donate for you.

Please note that Closet Cash sells thousands of items on consignment and only a few items have been returned due to inability to sell.

A Commission Rate of 90% on anything that sells for $5000.00 or over,

85% Commission Rate for items sold from $3,000.00- 4,999.00, 75% Commission Rate for items sold from $1,000-$2,999.00, 70% Commission Rate for items sold from $195-999, 60% Commission Rate for items sold from 100-194.99, and a 50% Commission Rate for all items $99.99 and under.

If a Supplier decides to terminate the consignment agreement before the end of the term, an early termination fee of $75 to cover our costs of authentication will apply per item returned.

Yes. Varying discounts will be applied to consignment items depending on the length of time they have been listed on the website.

Reconsign And BuyBack Program

Items purchased from Closet Cash may be sold back to Closet Cash for 70% of the item’s purchase price within 180 days of the purchase date.

The 75% Reconsign/BuyBack Program applies to all designer watches, jewelry, handbags, purses, clutches, wallets, credit card holders and some luggage items. The buyback program does not include clothing, shoes, sunglasses, and items originally priced under $300 but those items can be reconsigned at anytime. Additionally, the BuyBack Program does not include Items that have suffered excessive wear or damage after their purchase from Closet Cash, those items can be submitted for reconsignment.

Closet Cash’s lifetime return policy is just another way we ensure authenticity of every item we sell so that you can buy confidently with us. Closet Cash guarantees that every item you buy from Closet Cash is authentic and if for some reason you buy something that is proven to not be authentic, even if it is years or decades later we will return it immediately and refund your purchase, taxes and shipping costs.

It is our goal to issue payments as soon as possible, which is why we issue payments within two weeks of the sale of the item. Please keep in mind that we have a 14-day return policy with 21-days for items to be shipped back. If no return is requested, items sold will be paid within that two-week period. Buyout payments are processed after the item has been received and certified for authenticity by Closet Cash. Note that authentication may take one or several days, depending on the brand.

If you live in Los Angeles you can come to our headquarters located at 10000 Santa Monica Blvd. Century City, CA 90067. You can meet with our team and/or drop it off and we will re-inspect it. Closet Cash does not accept fake or counterfeit merchandise. If we suspect for any reason that a submitted consignment is not authentic we will contact the consignor for proof of purchase in an effort to establish the item’s authenticity. Items Closet Cash determines are counterfeit will not be returned to the consignor and will be destroyed. Consigned items must be clean and wearable. We inspect each item carefully to guarantee quality, authenticity and condition. Many of our items come with original tags, boxes, dust bags and authenticity cards. When these are available, they will be mentioned in the item description.

Each accepted item is categorized as Very Good, Good, Fair or Clearance.

Very Good:
Clothing: Items show no signs of being worn and tags are attached.
Handbags, Shoes & Accessories: Items show no signs of being worn and include tags, box and dust bag.

Good:
Clothing: Items are clearly unused but tags are not attached.
Handbags, Shoes & Accessories: Items are clearly unused, but tags are not attached and boxes or dust bags are not included.

Fair:
Clothing: Items may show light signs of wear.
Handbags, Shoes & Accessories: Shoes may show minor wear at the soles, insoles and heels such as light scuffing. Handbags and accessories may show slight signs of wear such as lightly worn corners or creased leather.
Jewelry: Items may have slight scratches at metal, but stones are still perfect.
Watches: Items show signs of light wear and scratches.

Clearance:
Clothing: Items may show more prominent signs of wear or laundering such as moderate stains, snags, fading or discoloration.
Handbags, Shoes & Accessories: Shoes may show moderate signs of wear at the soles, insoles and heels such as scuffing. Handbags and accessories may show more prominent signs of wear such as worn corners, creased leather and tarnished at hardware.
Jewelry: Items may show moderate wear such as scratches or tarnishing.
Watches: Items show moderate signs of wear and scratches throughout.

Jewelry: Items show only extremely superficial signs of wear, such as light surface scratches.
Watches: Items show very minimal signs of wear such as light scratches.
Sunglasses: Light surface scratches only

Yes! We want you to be happy with your purchase. All item(s) must be returned to Closet Cash within fourteen (14) days of the purchase date with tags attached and in the original condition in order to receive a full refund. Item(s) must be postmarked within twenty-one (21) days of the purchase date. Upon arrival, returned items are inspected and can take between 2-5 business days to process. Please be advised that returns of fine jewelry and watches take an average of 14 days to process once received.
Following return acceptance, refunds are issued in the original form of payment. It may take your financial institution up to 7-10 business days to reflect the refunded amount. For Jewelry, Watches, Hermes Birkins, and Hermes Kellys returned within our Selling Studio, refunds will only be processed once the item(s) have been received back at our headquarters for inspection and acceptance. Closet Cash reserves the right to charge a 10% restocking fee to customers with excessive returns. ITEMS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RETURN are swimwear, luggage and items that go on sale or are clearance and sold in our “Clearance Closet” are FINAL SALE, and cannot be returned. All items that cannot be returned can be consigned.

To send a return, follow these steps:

1. Make sure your returned items meet the conditions of our Return Policy.
2. Pack your return in a sturdy box with adequate padding to protect the item.
3. Fill out the return portion Packing Slip that was enclosed with your order and be sure to include your RMA number, your name and signature.
4. Place the completed Packing Slip inside the package with your returned item.
5. Affix the return address label to the outside of your package. If you have misplaced your return address label, email us at returns@closetcash.com and we will send you a new label.
6. A prepaid shipping label is included with U.S. orders. If you choose to use this, $11.95 will be deducted from your refund amount. Or, you can take your return package to the shipping carrier of your choice. We recommend a return shipping method that allows you to track the package to make sure it reaches us. Because we cannot assume responsibility for packages lost or damaged in transit, we recommend you insure your package. Postage and insurance costs, as well as original shipping charges, are not refundable.

Many of our items come with original tags, boxes, dust bags and authenticity cards. When available, the original packaging will be mentioned in the item description.

All Closet Cash prices or quote offers are listed in US dollars (USD). We are unable to provide any currency exchange estimates as these rates constantly fluctuate. All transactions are subject to the exchange rate at the time of processing and are determined by the intermediary financial institutions. We make no adjustments for currency exchange on returns.

Closet Cash buyers research recent sales of comparable items and consider the retail value of the item, how current the item is (which year/collection), the condition and rarity, and current fashion trends to effectively and responsibly price each item. Other considerations when pricing are our own record of sales and online sales and auctions.

Closet Cash does offer regular sales on clearance closet items.

We do not negotiate pricing for Closet Cash. Prices are fixed at the amount indicated on the website.

Although most items sold by Closet Cash are marked 60% to 80% below their original retail price, some items may be priced higher than the original retail price due to:

Vintage & Rarity – Vintage, limited edition, or special order items may exceed comparable current retail prices because of their market rarity.

Sold Out Item – When a particular item sells out completely at department stores, boutiques, or online, the item value may increase beyond its original retail price due to its scarcity and demand.

Dated Price Tags – Some items are several years old and have their original price tag attached reflecting a retail price from years ago. Due to price increases these items are now valued above the original attached price tag.

Shipping & Customs

We ship almost everywhere, however, a few countries have customs policies that have made shipping luxury brand items very difficult. For this reason, we may not be able to ship items to Africa, Latin America, parts of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Standard US domestic ground shipping is $11.95 per order. Express & International shipping prices are determined by item size & destination so please refer to our shipping page for a specific price quote.

We will send an email notification including tracking information when your package has shipped. You can view the status of your order, obtain tracking information about your order in the My Orders section under My Account.

Separate orders to the same customer will not automatically ship as a combined delivery, however, we are happy to accommodate combined shipping on multiple items and/or orders where possible. Please contact us at 1-855-343-3733 if you would like us to ship items together.

Items are generally shipped within 1-2 business days pending payment verification and processing. Closet Cash is open during normal business hours and ships only during these hours of operation (Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm PST). Closet Cash does not staff for weekends or any nationally observed holidays. A signature will be required on all shipments unless the signature requirement is waived for orders under $500.

Orders are shipped via FedEx. All packages are sent with signature confirmation for security purposes unless the signature is waived for orders under $500.

Closet Cash requires a signature for orders with any item over $500.00. FedEx will need to obtain a signature from an adult 21 or older.

We want to deliver your item(s) as soon as possible, so we process orders in real time during business hours. This means we are unable to cancel orders once they have entered the shipping process. Due to strict customs regulations we must mark all customs forms as used items (not stating the brand), valued at the dollar amount you paid for the item (minus shipping).

You, as the customer, are solely responsible for import taxes, customs duties and any other applicable fees imposed by the destination country, as well as compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. Please note that all items will be declared at full purchase price and indicated as “used” when shipped outside of the United States. We cannot declare any item as a “gift”.

Absolutely! After you have accepted the quote and agreed to the terms and conditions, you may print the ship list and ship your items to us using any courier you wish. Unfortunately, Closet Cash does not cover the cost of International shipping. All shipping costs will be paid by you as the Seller. Please note that U.S. Customs duties and/or taxes are based on a percentage of the declared value. On occasion, the government will assess a higher value upon inspection of the shipment. If any customs fees are incurred, Closet Cash will pay the fees up front and split the total fees with you 50-50. Your 50% of the total fees would simply be deducted from your issued payment.

It is our goal to issue payments as soon as possible, which is why Closet Cash issues buyout payments once a week and consignor payouts once a month. Note that authentication may take one or several days, depending on the brand. Payment is processed for Consignment items after the item has been purchased and delivered to the buyer with no return initiated 14 days upon the receipt.

COVID-19 FAQ’S

Generally, a customer can expect an order to ship within 1-2 business days. For safety we are working with a limited team, and shipping time can be delayed up to a week.

Returns may take 2 weeks or more to process

Yes, we are still accepting orders on our website and in our app. Items are currently shipping with up to a week delay.

Due to COVID-19, Closet Cash is not currently doing in person or walk in appointments. You can consign virtually by clicking the link here. Once business in Los Angeles and surrounding areas are allowed to open back up after COVID-19 walk-ins are always welcome, we want to ensure that you receive the level of service you deserve and recommend making an appointment. Selling appointments are based on how many items you are selling. On average, each item takes approximately 10 minutes to assess and authenticate and sellers like you walk out with same day pay. Some items, including Hermés Birkin and Kelly bags, as well as fine jewelry and watches may take a little longer to process and/or require additional review in our Los Angeles location.
